Jill's Shower

June was a very busy month! The weekend after Jenny and Andy's wedding, we headed to Sulphur Springs, TX, for my sister-in-law's baby shower. She is due in August, and she and Chris are expecting a little girl, Tess. The shower was very nice! Jill's family is on her left, and Chris's family is on her right.We have done a lot of other family stuff lately too, including starting to work on Nora's room. More to come!

I just wanted to congratulate Jenny (my sis), and Andy (my new bro-in-law)! They got married on June 14 and I am just now getting around to posting about it. Aren't they cute? Andy, we are so glad to have you as a part of our family, and hope you will enjoy being a part of ours! The wedding was beautiful...look on Facebook if you want to see more pics!

Sugar and Spice and Everything Nice...

Well, We found out on Saturday that we are having a little girl! We spent the weekend with Kevin's family and went to an ultrasound clinic that some of our friends, Daniel and Shelly, own in Dallas. We had a really good time with Kevin's fam and it was so much fun to find out that it's a girl and that everything still looks great! Kevin was so convinced that it was going to be a boy (I thought it was a girl), that he was shocked when he heard the word "girl." We both teared up. We are very excited and cannot wait to meet her! I told Kevin that you can take girls fishing and hunting too!She had her legs crossed at first, but then decided to straighten them out...

Recent Events

We went for a check up on Tuesday and everything looks good with the baby! We heard its heartbeat and asked questions as usual. As we were wrapping it up, our doctor asked, "Is there anything else?" Kevin said, "I guess not, unless we could maybe look at the baby." I was embarrassed of course, to ask the doctor for something extra, but leave it to Kevin to just ask for what he wants (that's how he always gets free stuff everywhere we go...hotel upgrades, skipping to the front of security lines, etc.). Our doctor said we could go ahead and take a look, and here's what we saw! He said it is still a little too early to determine the sex, but I think he might have had an idea. We got to see a little leg kicking, fingers, toes, the whole deal. Kevin said, "This is the coolest thing I have seen in my entire life!"

This past weekend I traveled to Auburn, AL, with my family (Kevin had to work) to be with my sister as she graduated from nursing school. We had a really good time together and I got to be with my mom on Mother's Day too! This is my mom, sister, and I right after her pinning ceremony. Three nurses in a row!We waited for over 2 hours to take a picture in front of this sign. Apparently it's a big deal.

I was going to post a Mother's Day picture that I had with my mom, but my computer is being stubborn, so I will just say a belated Happy Mother's Day to you, Mom! My mom is so special to me, and I think that I appreciate her more and more now that I'm going through this pregnancy. She has given up so much for me and my siblings. She is such a servant with the most giving heart. I know I will look to her for support and as an example as I try to do this whole mother thing. Thank you so much Mom! I love you!

Galloping horses

Well, yesterday was a big day for us...we had our 12 week appointment and heard the baby's heartbeat! It sounded like horses galloping. We were both very excited of course, but I had a lot of fun watching Kevin's reaction. I know many of you have already experienced this, but it is just amazing. It reminded me of what a miracle life really is. It is undoubtedly a gift from God.

We also went to Dallas last weekend for a Heartlight fundraiser. It was a lot of fun. I have pictures but need to get them uploaded, so I'll post them later.

Big News!

As you can see from the ticker above, we are pregnant! We're a little over 10 weeks along, and everything has gone pretty well so far. We are very excited, of course! I have been pretty anxious this first trimester because we had a miscarriage with our last pregnancy, but things seem to be different this time around. Just wanted to share our good news and leave you with a little picture of our baby. I looks like a little gummie bear here. This ultrasound was at 7 weeks, 5 days, so hopefully it's a little bit bigger now! We'll keep you updated!

My new camera!

My birthday was last week and I have been really wanting a new camera. I told Kevin that I was going to save up any money I got for my birthday towards this camera. It's a little pricey, so I knew I wouldn't actually get it for my birthday, I just thought I'd start saving. Well, Kevin is an incredible husband! He got everyone in my family and his family together and they gave me the camera! My parents also got me a lens! I have been having so much fun with it! I am no where near an expert, but I have enjoyed experimenting with it. Thanks to all of my family, for giving me such a great gift! Here are a few pictures I have taken:

I'm getting old!

Well, the other day I was in the bathroom at work and glanced in the mirror, only to see a shiny, metallic, GRAY hair looking back at me. It was no mistake...it was a curly, scraggily, gray hair! I wish I could have posted a picture of it, but I was so mortified that I immediately plucked it out (I know, I'm already waiting for two more to grow back in its place. I told some of my coworkers about it, and one of the newer girls said "How many kids do you have?" "None!" I said. Imagine what that will do to my hair. Oh well, that's why I have Larissa, who can dye it whatever color I want.

Kevin is 27!

Happy Birthday Kevin! 27 years ago today, you made your grand entrance to this earth (you already knew that). I hope that you have a wonderful day! I look forward to spending your 27th year with you and enjoying whatever is has in store for us!

In memory...

Those of you who know Kevin and I well know that we lost a baby to miscarriage last July. If we had carried the baby to term, it would have been born last Thursday, Jan. 31. In July, when we had the miscarriage, we decided that we wanted to do something in memory of the baby, but thought that we would like to wait until the due date. So this past weekend, we had our families down (Kevin's dad got sick so his parents couldn't make it) so we could have a small ceremony and plant a dogwood tree in memory of our little one.

The weather couldn't have been more perfect. It was a beautiful day and a special ceremony. It really helped us to have some closure to the grief that we've experienced over the past 6 months. The tree will also be a reminder of the life of our child.

A verse that has meant a lot to me through this is Lamentations 3:21-24

"Yet this I call to mind and therefore I have hope: because of the Lord's great love we are not consumed, for his compassions never fail. They are new every morning; great is your faithfulness. I say to myself, 'The Lord is my portion; therefore I will wait for him.'"

Happy belated Anniversary, honey

Kevin and I celebrated our 3rd anniversary back on December 18, but as usual, because we

were in the middle of all of the Christmas hoopla, we didn't get to celebrate till January.

A couple of weekends ago, we went to Hot Springs to celebrate (we decided when we got married that we would take a little trip together every year instead of giving each other gifts because it is so close to Christmas and birthdays). We had a wonderful time...stayed at a nice hotel there and did the thermal bath and massage thing (some of you need to ask Kevin about his bath!)

We walked around and shopped and went to a movie and had a good time together.

Thank you Kevin, for 3 wonderful years! You are an incredible husband and I look forward to spending many more years together. I love you!

Christmas, part 2

Christmas

I got so behind over Christmas that it going to take forever to catch up. I may have to do this in several posts. We were pretty much out of town for the entire holiday(s), but we had a wonderful time with both of our families. We are very blessed!

Our first trip was to Houston to spend time with Kevin's family. We were there through Christmas Day. Kevin's brother, Chris, our sis-in-law, Jill, and our nephew, Fred, left on December 28 to do a 4 month internship in Rwanda, where they will be moving in November to do full-time mission work. Our time with them was especially precious. Please keep them in your prayers, especially Jill, who is pregnant.

Momma Lisa

Last week, our friends David and Deb came over to eat and they had the best idea! They have been wanting to paint "Momma Lisa's" for a while now, so they brought their stuff over to do it! The original plan was to paint "Mona Lisa's" with our mom's faces on them, but they decided that you really wouldn't be able to tell that it was our moms, so they changed the plan and we picked famous paintings and reproduced them on our canvases. It may sound goofy, but we had so much fun. I am a terrible artist (David and Deb are actually good) so it was pretty funny. If y'all are looking for a different kind of date night, give it a try!

Visit to Searcy

On our way home from Memphis last weekend, we stopped in Searcy to meet our new nephew! He was about a week and a half old and he's still so little. In an earlier post I said he was born at 6 lbs, 7 oz, but really he was 6 lbs, 2 oz, and has lost a little since then. He is so tiny and cute! And he slept pretty much the whole time...I know Dijana is enjoying it while she can. Here are some pictures:

Thanksgiving festivities

For Thanksgiving, we headed to Memphis and spent time with my family. It was great getting to see them and getting to see cousins, aunts, and uncles that we haven't seen in forever. We hung out, watched movies, and had everyone over on Thanksgiving Day. Mom, Jenny, and I went shopping at 6:00 on Friday (we'd never done this before, and probably won't do it again) with all of the other crazy people. It was not really worth the hassle, but we had a fun time together! We took some family pictures in front of the house, but my mom has all of them, so here is one of just Kevin and me:

We had a great holiday together. Somehow, when you are with people you love, time goes by so fast! I have been overwhelmed lately (not just on Thanksgiving) with gratitude for the blessings that Kevin and I have been given...our family, health, strength to get through difficult times, and so many other things that I can't even list them all. When I left the hospital on my last shift before Thanksgiving, I felt guilty that many of my patients would be in the hospital over the holiday, dealing with terminal illnesses and other ailments, while I was free to go spend time with my family. It really humbled me. I want to be more intentional about living each day to the fullest and being thankful for each day God has given me here.

Noah is here!

Our third nephew is here! (Yes, no girls yet). His name is Noah Truth and he was born yesterday, November 13. He weighed in at 6 lbs., 7 oz. It was a little bit of a surprise that he came early! He wasn't due till December 5. I was in Searcy last weekend visiting Jeremy and Dijana, and she looked very pregnant, but we still figured it would be a little while. Dijana's friend Angie, is due November 30, and we thought that she would definitely have her little girl first, but I guess Noah had other plans! Kevin and I haven't gotten to go up there yet. We can't wait to see him next week!
